So, what are the 5 must have habits for busy mums? Are you always running around in the mornings, trying to get the kids fed, dressed and ready for school? Well, that used to be me until I learned to get organised.
I'm not a morning person at all and getting out of bed isn't easy. I'm always dragging my feet until the last minute, but then I'm rushing around getting annoyed because we might be late. I knew I had to change something because it's just not nice to start the day being so stressed.
In case you didn't know, I have four girls. I always get asked how I manage four kids because they have a hard time dealing with one or two! To be completely honest with you guys, I manage because my husband, Eric, and my eldest, Jasmine, help me manage! If I didn't have their help I would be curled up in the corner, crying.
So let's get to it! Here are my top five easy habits for busy mums to pick up, to make mornings easier.
5 must have habits for busy mums to pick up
1. wake up to a clean house
Once the kids have gone to bed, Eric and I tidy up and put things away. I know, the last thing you want to do once the kids have gone to bed is clean up! But wouldn't you rather wake up to a tidy house? I personally think it makes a big difference to your mental state. If you see clutter then your head will be cluttered.
2. Have a shower
I don't know about you ladies but when I have a shower before the school run, I feel energised and ready for the day. There were days where I didn't shower until lunch time, and those were the laziest days cause I'm just sitting around in my pyjamas! Don't get me wrong, I love that but you just don't get as much done. It's strange to say that having a shower before the school run makes me more productive, but it does!
3. Make school lunches the night before
A friend told me about this one and I couldn't believe I didn't think of it myself! Just throw it into the school bag in the morning. This took minutes off my morning routine to give me time for that shower I was just talking about, and my morning cuppa.
4. Set an alarm
It takes time to load three kids in the car, so I set an alarm 15 minutes before we have to leave. This gives me time to check for a dirty nappy, put shoes and jackets on and buckle them in their seats. At this stage, Eric and Jas are gone so that alarm is another thing I couldn't do without.
5. Lay everything out
Aside from the lunch box, everything is left together ready for the day. Uniform, jacket, shoes, water bottle and bag all in one place and easy to grab. My five year old isn't a morning person either and needs a bit of help too!
And That's a wrap on my 5 must have habits for busy mums!
The one easy habit I love the most is the shower because it really wakes me up. I think it's important in how it shapes the way you feel for the rest of the day. I'm definitely one for being in pyjamas all day, but it makes me feel lazy and unmotivated. And as mums, we just don't have the luxury to not do anything!
